One of its long-term goals is to have a full service retail shop.
DO YOU BUY COINS AND CURRENCY?
Yes. Keep in mind that there is a difference in what an item is worth to a dealer and a collector. Books like the Red Book (also known as "A Guide Book of United States Coins") and the Standard Catalog series from Krause have prices that are retail, basically, what one would expect pay from a dealer. Dealers, on the other hand, use guides such as the Greysheet (also known as the "Coin Dealer Newsletter"), which gives them an idea on what to pay for an item from a collector or fellow dealer.
WHAT IS DORAN COINS' POSITION ON THE TRAVELING ROADSHOW-TYPE OPERATIONS WHICH SET UP AT HOTELS?
While going to these shows is a matter of choice for those who visit, Doran Coins' position is that these so-called "roadshows" are nothing but trouble. You can search the Internet for news stories about these operations.
DO YOU RECOMMEND CLEANING COINS?
Doran Coins does not recommend cleaning coins at all - period! Doing so will not only have a negative effect on the appearance of a coin but also the collector value.
ONE OF THE SERVICES THAT YOU OFFER IS COIN CONSERVATION - IS IT CONSIDERED CLEANING?
Coin Conservation is not cleaning, but restoration. Doran Coins is an authorized submitter for Numismatic Conservation Services, a sister company of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. For a more detailed explanation about coin conservation, click HERE.
